 Can you imagine ...

Can you imagine what it would feel like to have no place to call home? Unfortunately, millions of men, women and children right here in the United States know this feeling all too well.

When a person is homeless, simple things that many of us take for granted are beyond reach. Basic things -- like something to eat and drink, a change of clothes, a warm blanket, and basic personal care items. Just finding a place to keep the belongings they do have can be difficult, since they must be able to carry their things with them.

CarePacks for the homeless - backpacks and products enclosed.

  • Who is homeless?

    Older adults (over 62)

    Families with young children

    Young men and women

Virtually every segment of society is affected!

  • Why?

The reasons are many - poverty, job loss, foreclosures, evictions, domestic violence, lack of health care and support services, lack of affordable housing, skyrocketing prices for everything from groceries to gasoline - and the list goes on. Each person has their own personal story to tell.

  • The numbers are astounding!

Fact: One out of every 50 American children are homeless each year, according to a recent report by The National Center on Family Homelessness.

Fact: 224,000 California school children were homeless in 2007-2008, reports The California Department of Education.

Fact: Los Angeles County has more homeless people than any other metropolis in the country - over 90,000. Fewer than 20% of these people can be accommodated in shelter beds on any given night.

Fact: Experts estimate that an additional 1.5 million Americans may experience homelessness over the next two years due directly to effects of the current recession.
